The LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds mini two game-winning streak has come to an end, as they were shutout by the Binghamton Bearcats Sunday afternoon at the LIU Athletic Field.

The Blackbirds started junior goalkeeper Aline Allmann who is coming off a shutout over Manhattan College, and was just recently named NEC defensive player of the week.

It was not a good second half for Allmann or the Blackbirds defense as they allowed three goals in the second half.

The Blackbirds got outplayed in every offensive category. The Bearcats got 20 shots at goal, and they also got six corner kicks.

When asked about what the team needs to do to prepare for conference, first year head coach Eleri Earnshaw says, “ Three goals were given away and that’s been the tendency so far this season. We have to eliminate those errors.”

The Blackbirds will now head into conference play with a record of 2-6-1.

The women soccer squad will play their first conference game on Friday September 29th at Mount St. Mary’s, and will return home on Sunday October 8th, as they will host the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights.
