Rihanna Crowned First Ever “Queen of Shoes”

The shoe officially claimed the crown on November 4, 2016, when the Creeper was announced to win “Shoe of the Year” at 30th Annual Footwear News Awards, to which she exclaimed her excitement with an Instagram post.

It is not uncommon to hear about the Bajan entertainer, Robyn Fenty, on any media network. This time the Grammy award winner is receiving attention for teaming up with Puma to create a shoe that is both stylish and versatile.

Fenty x Puma first showcased the Creeper during September of last year. The shoe immediately received a copious amount of admiration and attention. Once officially on the market, the shoes sold out online within the first three hours.

Rihanna’s success with her Puma collaboration has left a mark on the industry.

She didn’t seem to pursue an entrance into the fashion industry like her previous counterparts Kanye West and Pharrell Williams who both had multiple small collaborations before starting their own lines.

Rihanna promoted the Creeper less than two weeks before its release via instagram posts.

The shoe business is mainly a male-dominated world. Rihanna has reigned supreme this year, beating the boys at what historically has been their game.

Prior to winning Shoe of the Year, the Creeper was seen on famous models and celebrities such as Cara DeLevingne and Gigi Hadid. This assisted the popularity of the shoe to escalate even more. One could not have gone on social media without seeing or reading about the new shoe.

Being the first woman to create a shoe that earned the title Shoe of the Year against long-time footwear connoisseurs is a quickly reached milestone in her fashion career that will open a plethora of doors for more creations.

The achievement of winning this title has paved a way for other women in the shoe industry to succeed and create something as major as the Creepers. Not every entertainer-turned-creative-director is able to inspire a product that succeeds as well as Rihanna’s in such a short time.

This is all the more a reason for a celebration to take place when Ms. Fenty receives her award at the FN Achievement Awards on November 29 in New York City.
